ENDOVASCULAR ROUNDS

Introducing the Bon Secours Community Hospital Endovascular Institute, and its inaugural newsletter-

A Message From the Director:

The esteemed professor, himself....

Welcome to the first edition of ENDOVASCULAR ROUNDS, a forum whereby physicians in our region can be updated as to the latest technological advances that are now available locally . Endovascular therapy is a rapidly developing specialty involving less invasive methods of treating peripheral vascular disease with technology previously limited to the heart. Now, with a variety of stents, balloons, thrombectomy, atherectomy, and other devices , combined with newer anti-platelet agents and state of the art imaging techniques, patients are much less likely to be subjected to the morbidity and risks of surgery, with its inherent prolonged recovery time. What are our goals?- To provide cutting edge patient care with integrity and compassion. To bring the technology and scientific advances to the patient locally, obviating the obstacles of long-distance travel. To reduce risk and refine techniques so that patients’ outcomes are improved.

Since this is our first newsletter, let me tell you more about my background. I am an Interventionalist, both Cardiac and Peripheral. I am board certified in Endovascular Medicine, Vascular Medicine, Interventional Cardiology, Cardiovascular Disease, and Internal Medicine. I have been in practice in Rockland County, N.Y. for 19 years, and started the Endovascular program at Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis two years ago.Since that time, the Institute has steadily grown. We currently treat patients with critical limb ischemia, claudication, renal vascular hypertention, subclavian-steal, acute and subacute deep venous thrombosis, venous insufficiency, and varicose veins.

Periodically, we will be sending out news updates and case presentations from our Center. In this first issue, we present a case of critical –limb ischemia in a fifty year old diabetic.

I hope you find the information provided here of value, and that you can use it to help your patients receive the best possible care.It is our hope that by sharing our experience and findings, you can do just that. Your feedback-i.e. questions, comments, or criticisms, as always, is most welcome

Best Regards,

Michael L. Innerfield, M.D.
